Why we organize this contest?
Between September 7, 2015 and January 7, 2016, Wikimedia Spain collaborates with three state museums in Madrid —the Museum of Romanticism, the Museo del Traje (Costume Museum) and the National Archaeological Museum— thanks to the initiative of a wikipedian in residence.
The Museum of Romanticism preserves collections of paintings, miniatures, furniture, decorative arts, drawings and photographs, which offer a broad panorama of the arts during the Romantic era in Spain; the Museo del Traje has collections devoted to fashion, costumes and ethnography, while the National Archaeological Museum is the leading Spanish institution in the preservation of historical pieces and its permanent collection covers Prehistory, Early History, Roman Spain, Greece, Egypt and Near East, Middle Ages and Modern Age.
Due to the importance of these institutions in conservation, documentation and diffusion of the historical and artistic Spanish heritage, we propose to give out everything related to its history and its collections. We want, therefore, create or improve articles in both Wikipedia and Wikidata about the three institutions, their collections and personalities related to them, and use some of the files that have already been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as part of the collaboration.
