GLAM Wiki Conference Philippines 2024/Wiki Takes Vigan
Wiki Takes Vigan is a photo scavenger hunt and free-content photography contest where participants compete to take as many photographs as possible of sights in the City of Vigan for Wikipedia articles that need them.

Guidelines and Mechanics
edit- Participation:
- The contest is open to all participants of the GLAM Wiki Conference PH 2024.
- Participans must have an existing Wikimedia Commons account and they must be familiar with uploading photographs on the website.
- Participants are equipped with a DSLR camera or digital camera. When using a camera phone, set the pixel size to at least 2 megapixels for good quality of images.
- Interested participants must sign up below by 3ː00pm on September 20, 2024.
- Schedule:
- Participant are given up to 11:59pm on September 21, 2024 to upload as many photographs of the subjects in the List of Goals taken during the conference days on September 20-21 in the City of Vigan.
- Photo Hunting:
- The scheduled of group photo walk will be on September 20, 2024 from 3:00pm onwards.
- Participants may conduct a solo photo walk before or after the end of the conference sessions.
- Participants are encouraged to travel by foot.
- Photographs:
- Significance of the subjects - Only public buildings, religious structures and educational institutions with historical and cultural significance and older than 50 years should be photographed.
- Quality of shots - High resolution, focused, proper framing and exposure are the basic requirements for the photographs to earn points.
- Source - Photographs must be taken with the same camera used by the team during the entire duration of the competition.
- Uploading:
- Only photographs which the participants wish to contribute must be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons. Use the category Category:Wiki Takes Vigan. Please put all your photos under a category (e.g. Wiki Takes Vigan by Username)
- Photographs must be uploaded by the participant using his/her own user account within the given period of time (3:00pm September 20 - 11:59pm on September 21).
- At least one sentence background information about the subject must be provided as a description of the photograph.
- Winners:
- Participants earn one point (1 pt.) for each subject covered.
- The 3 participants with the most number of points earned win the contest.
