the GLAM Wiki Conference Philippines 2024 took place in Vigan City from September 20-22, 2024.The conference brought together cultural heritage professionals from galleries, libraries, archives, and museums with the Wikimedia communities in the Philippines The event included keynote lectures, workshops, museum visits, a photo scavenger hunt called "Wiki Takes Vigan," and various outreach activities. it was a fantastic event for sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration in cultural preservation!.

editA Day in Vigan City: Our First Day Sept 20,2024
edit-Morning: Exploring the City Streets
editOur adventure began with a leisurely photowalk through the historic streets of Vigan. The streets and centuries-old Spanish colonial buildings transported us back in time, offering countless photo opportunities. We captured the beautiful views of life around us.
-Midday: A Visit to Baluarte Zoo
editOur next stop was the Baluarte Zoo, where we experienced a variety of fascinating wildlife up close. The zoo's expansive grounds and diverse animal exhibits kept us engaged and entertained. but at the sametime we also got pity with other animals in the cage.
-Afternoon: GLAM Wiki Conference at the National Museum of the Philippines Ilocos
editIn the afternoon, we attended the opening event of the GLAM Wiki Conference Philippines 2024 at the National Museum of the Philippines Ilocos. The welcoming address by NPM Ilocos Head, Paolo Mar A. Chan, set a warm tone for the event. This was followed by an insightful keynote address from Dr. Sakti Pramudya. Prof. Danilo M. Gerona took us through the history of Vigan with his talk on the "Founding of the Villa Fernandina," while Fr. Edmundo C. Castañeda Jr. gave an enlightening discussion on the Ibanag language. After the lectures, we explored the museum's galleries and exhibits, which offered a deeper understanding of the region's rich cultural heritage.
-Evening: Delightful diner and Social Gathering
editTo conclude our day, we participated in a social gathering for all the conference attendees. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other, share our thoughts, and build connections within the GLAM community.
A Day in Vigan City: Our Second Day Sept 21,2024

- Sir Herbert Kikoy shared his journey in Wiki Loves Folklore, highlighting both the challenges faced and successes achieved, providing valuable lessons on perseverance and dedication.
-Khate Martinez emphasized the cultural and environmental significance of the Maligcong Rice Terraces, discussing ways to support its preservation.
-Elmer Montejo shed light on community building and the pivotal role of the Cebuano language in the digital era, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural pride.
-Mark Kineth Casindac offered expert techniques and best practices in macro photography, stressing the importance of selecting appropriate lenses and understanding the intricacies of close-up shots.
-Maffeth Sto. Tomas presented an overview of the Wiki Loves Philippines initiative, illustrating its impact on documenting and promoting Philippine culture.
-Dr. Jesusa Bibe-Taumatorgo discussed the critical role of higher education institutions in conserving Indigenous Peoples' cultural identity, with a focus on the LADAWAN Museum.
-Mr. Elbert O. Baeta introduced local frameworks for collecting and documenting Indigenous knowledge in the Rinconada District.
- Mr. Jerome M. Hipolito -highlighted the implementation and impact of the pioneering CBUSA Wiki Education Program.
-Mr. Irvin P. Sto. Tomas explored collaboration strategies for open GLAM initiatives, with an emphasis on the Wikisource Loves Manuscripts project in the Philippines.
-Uncwikiclub shared their practical experiences in proofreading Wikisource entries, while they also led workshops to enhance editing skills and usage of Ilokano Wikisource, fostering community participation and digital literacy.
A Day in Ilocos norte: Our Third Day Sept 22,2024
editOur third day we go to the ilocos norte and was guided with skilled guides from Ilocos Norte Tourism Mr. Jessie Silutan. We began with an exciting 4x4 ride through the sand dunes, followed by a visit to the historic Malacañang of the North, offering insights into the past. Lunch at La Preciosa Restaurant delighted us with delicious Ilocano cuisine. The tour continued with a visit to the Ilocos Norte Capitol, deepening our appreciation for the region's heritage. The day concluded with a visit to the inspiring Paoay Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we marveled at its architectural beauty and historical significance.
