Summary

Description
English: Nicolas François Octave Tassaert (1800-1874): Die vorsichtige Geliebte / The Cautious Lover Lithographie c. 1860 - A piece of erotica showing two partially disrobed figures, with a woman in the cowgirl position putting a condom on her erect male lover before beginning sexual intercourse. The adjective 'cautious' here refers to her caution against receiving a STD or becoming pregnant, at the large size of her lover's penis, or at the correct application of the condom (not a widely used or mass produced item at this time). Cautious refers to the woman blowing up the condom to check if it is intact. Condoms were cleaned and used over and over.
