Summary

Description

English: Restriction channels seawater exchange between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean for about 6.5 million years before the Messinian salinity crisis. The presence of several corridors and its depth allowed to maintain salinity of the Mediterranean to normal levels as happens today due to the Strait of Gibraltar flows.
