Deutsch: Das Bild zeigt die Hauptkomponenten eines HEPA-Filters (große Ansicht) und die Arbeitsweise (in den 3 kleinen Schemen).
  • die dicken bräunlichen Linien stellen das Filtermedium dar.
  • die hellblauen Linien stellen den Luftstrom dar.
  • die dunklen Punkte stellen die Partikel dar (Staub, Bakterien, Sporen, usw..).
  • die Flugbahn des Partikels ist gepunkt dargestellt; beachte: kommt ein Partikel in die Nähe einer Faser, dann haftet es an.
  • im Falle einer Diffusion hat das Partikel (üblicherweise 0,1 µm oder kleiner) diese Flugbahn aufgrund der Kollision mit Gasmolekülen
