As seen in the movie The Men Who Stare at Goats, the manual was created by Jim Channon for the U.S. Army and first published in 1978. It illustrates high performance concepts and evolutionary ideas. Originally passed on officer-to-officer via photocopy, it has since become something of a collector’s item." The .pdf is being distributed from multiple sites including http://www.arcturus.org/field_manual.pdf . All the existing .pdfs I've found appear to be a version that contains errors that hinder their viewing - I don't know if this is some kind of corruption, virus, or a lack of backward compatibility with some earlier version of .pdf. By casting it in .djvu format I get a pretty good fix to many of the defects, and ensure it is in a clean format going forward.
