Summary

Description
English: One of the 51st Shaki Peeth or Sati Peeth is located at Juranpur in Nadia district of West Bengal. According to Hindu mythology the forehead of Goddess Sati fell in this place after Daksha Jagga.

There is a massive stone (covered by a cloth in the photo) under a banian tree which is worshipped every Tuesday and Saturday believed to be the forehead of Sati.

There is a bronze idol beside the stone which serves as a iconic representation of the Goddess.

By the side of the tree there is a small temple where God is worshipped in the name of Bhairav to a Shiva Lingam. Just besides the temple, there is an underground passage, which is kept under lock and key.

After the death of the goddess Sati, out of grief and sorrow, Lord Shiva carried Sati's body, reminiscing about their moments as a couple, and roamed around the universe with it. Lord Vishnu had cut her body into 51 body parts, using his Sudarshana Chakra, which fell on Earth to become sacred sites where all the people can pay homage to the Goddess. To complete this massively long task, Lord Shiva took the form of Bhairava.
