Summary

Description
English: Introverted Millipede. Earth had been conquered 350 million years ago by the representatives of the arthropods, among which were the millipedes (Diplopoda) depicted on the picture. These ground-dwelling animals have a lot of segments with two pairs of legs on them. The animal on the left side is a member of a species of Julus, its body is composed of hard, interlocking, sliding parts. The other one on the right side is a member of a species of Polydesmus; it has a pair of defensive glands on each segment on its back. The photograph was taken by the scanning electron microscope Hitachi S-4700 with 70 times magnification and has been colored in Adobe Photoshop.
A jobb oldalon lévő karimás ikerszelvényes (Polydesmus sp.) ízeinek hátoldalán a hatékonyabb védelem érdekében kiszélesedő lemezek is találhatók, melyeken védekező mirigyek kivezető nyílásai vannak. A kép 30-szoros nagyításban Hitachi S-4700 pásztázó elektronmikroszkóppal készült és Adobe Photoshop programmal lett színezve
Adobe Photoshop.
