Introduction

WikiKaamatan 2024 is a Kent Wiki Club endeavour to digitally document any information connected to the Kadazandusun culture. Kent Wiki Club serves as an activator, dignifying, empowering, and ensuring that the cultural heritage is strong and conserved for future generations to inherit. By introducing Wikimedia as a platform for accessing information and knowledge about Kadazandusun cultures, it is possible to encourage community participation in the Wikimedia movement more broadly, which is one of the main goals of the Kent Wiki Club as a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing open, dynamic, and free knowledge to all communities in the form of a digital database. In today's globalisation era, which prioritises information and communication technology, Wikimedia's digital preservation tool will surely help to ensure the Kadazandusun community's heritage and culture are maintained for future generations.

Goal

WikiKaamatan's objective is to provide the Kadazandusun community with free access to knowledge related to their culture via Wikimedia, especially Wikimedia Commons and Wikikamus. Furthermore, the goal of this programme is to preserve the Kadazandusun community's cultural history by utilising digital resources to make it broadly available. Finally, with the establishment of a digital platform related to Kadazandusun culture, the purpose of making the Kadazandusun community known to the global level would undoubtedly be met.

Objective

• Provide exposure and encourage the community to contribute knowledge about Kadazandusun cultural heritage via the Wikimedia platform.
• Enhance the Kadazandusun language so that it is recognised globally.
• Preserving and documenting the culture of the Kadazandusun language community.
• Injecting the interest of the Kadazandusun community in further expanding Kadazandusuna culture and language.
• Introducing the Wikimedia project to the community as one of the most effective digitalization tools for maintaining Kadazandusun culture, specifically Wikimedia Commons and Wikikamus.

Among the activities that will take place in this program are as follows:
