Event:Ionian Wikithon 2024
For the 3rd year in a row, the Networks, Multimedia and Systems Security Laboratory of the Department of Informatics of the Ionian University in collaboration with the Wikimedia Community User Group Greece are organizing the "Ionian Wikithon 2024" following the Ionian Wikithon 2022, Ionian Wikithon 2023.
The Ionian Wikithon will take the form of an open event, where the entire Ionian University community, as well as professionals, amateurs and young people with an interest in communication and information technology, are welcome to attend. The event's primary purpose is to encourage the whole community to participate and engage in technology and IT and information, to promote gender equality in IT, multiculturalism and the empowerment of women. The focus will be on cleaning up and fixing bugs in MediaWiki, building new tools, and getting familiar with using Wikipedia's Wikidata. Through this particular event, participants will be given the opportunity to enrich their skills, collaborate with people with whom they share common interests and increase their knowledge by learning some technologies such as MediaWiki, PHP, API, SPARQL, etc. The intended result is the attraction of young and more women and their activation in matters related to information technology and technology, but also the consolidation of their presence in related events.
