Introduction to Photo Essays for Wiki Loves Africa

Wiki Loves Africa is organizing a training for its participants to guide them on how to make photo essay submissions for the photography contest.

This training will focus on the basics of uploading, identifying and grouping photo sets on Wikimedia Commons to create a photo essay submission and will consist of a practical session. Participants are advised to have a computing device handy to aid participation.

About the training

The focus of the training session will be to demonstrate the necessary steps required to successfully make a photo essay submission for the 2024 Wiki Loves Africa contest.

Participants will learn how to:

1. Identify applicable photos,
2. Group identified photo sets,
3. Navigate the photo essay instructions page,
4. Create the photo essays, and
5. Review, correct (if necessary) and submit.

The training is targeted specifically at Wiki Loves Africa 2024 participants and generally at Wikimedians interested in the subject matter.
