The #WikiforHumanRights project aims to increase awareness and understanding of human rights issues related to the environment among the Hausa-speaking community. Key focus areas include environmental protection and pollution reduction. We address challenges like limited access to information in Hausa and the lack of representation of these topics on Hausa Wikipedia.

Goals

edit
  1. Build Knowledge in Hausa: Create and disseminate content about human rights and the environment in the Hausa language.
  2. Empower Local Participants: Train participants to contribute content related to human rights and the environment to Wikimedia projects.
  3. Enhance Wikidata in Hausa: Document local plant and animal species on Wikidata in the Hausa language.

Approach

edit
  • Content Creation: Develop high-quality articles on human rights and environmental issues in Hausa.
  • Training Sessions: Conduct workshops to teach participants how to edit and contribute to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
