Auckland Museum in Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest city invites a second year of Wikipedia summer students to undertake a research project to enrich Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland histories on Wikipedia. In celebration of Wikidata's birthday, the Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group organized a special Wikidata editathon in Elbasan, Albania. In this event, 17 students from different schools joined us for 6 hours to celebrate and enrich Wikidata in Albanian. Read more…

Workshop at Lumbini Technological University for 28 Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence students. The session introduced Wikimedia projects like Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, teaching skills such as account creation, article editing, and media uploads. Students expressed interest in forming a WikiClub to document Nepal's culture and biodiversity while contributing to global knowledge platforms. Challenges like limited internet access and the need for Nepali-language tools were discussed. The event successfully inspired students to engage in free knowledge-sharing, bridging the digital divide and fostering collaborative learning in Nepal. Read more…

As part of the greater Wikipedia Education Program, the Shahid Beheshti University project continues to integrate academic learning with open knowledge-sharing practices. Now in its 8th year, this program engaged 20 new history students in November 2024 through two courses: The History of Iran from the Fall of the Sassanids to the Rise of Semi-Independent Dynasties and The History of Iran during the Tahirid, Saffarid, Samanid, and Buyid Dynasties. On 26 September 2024, at the International School "Nova", Wikimedia MKD organized a training for students. This educational event was opened by the Education Program Manager of Wikimedia MKD, Bosa Filipovikj, who introduced the students to the basics of Wikipedia, how it works and the importance of volunteering for the global encyclopedia.
