Abstract:
The Education Wiki Outreach Collaborative (EWOC) is a peer support group of Wikimedians committed to enhancing the impact of Wikimedia projects in education. In this panel discussion, members of the EWOC team will share their experiences and insights on how they are working to achieve their goals and support the EduWiki community of practice.
The panel will begin with a brief introduction to the EWOC team and their mission, followed by a series of focused discussions on key topics. Panelists will share their perspectives on capacity building, including onboarding support and collaboration opportunities to achieve shared goals. The discussion will also cover the importance of communicating the value of Wikimedia in education through storytelling and how the EWOC team leverages engagement channels to reach a wider audience in our movement. Panelists will also highlight the importance of representation, ensuring that volunteers of small projects in the movement can actively participate in activities run by the EWOC team.
Session Outcomes:
- The audience will gain a new understanding of the importance of peer support and collaboration in achieving shared goals among communities that develop EduWiki projects.
- The audience will provide input on the future of this and similar peer support groups and how they might be better integrated with other education support spaces in the movement.
