Abstract:
In this workshop we will share experiences carried out by the Basque Wikimedian Users Group and Wikimedia Argentina, in relation to the development of educational materials to use Wikimedia projects in school curricula. From both affiliates, we work from our educational programs in the development of territorialized activities designed for our local communities. Part of these experiences are the ones we will share in the workshop.
The Basque Wikimedian Users Group started developing booklets and help pages at Basque Wikipedia, and even translated some of the video materials done by Wikimedia Argentina. We made a booklet for teachers and some other extra materials for students. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we also have video presentations so we don’t need to go to the students to explain how Wikipedia works. We also provide learning paths to work on specific tasks and learning competences. From Wikimedia Argentina, we will share the experience of design and implementation of the series of booklets "Teaching with Wikipedia", designed for secondary school teachers and based on the curriculum design of secondary school in Argentina.
After the presentation of the materials, we will propose to the participants a practical activity that will allow them to collaboratively build some ideas to design their own materials.
