UNESCO-WMID on the Training in Ethnic (Indigenous) Languages on Mis/Disinformation and Hate Speech in the Context of Election 2024 edit

Abstract/description edit

UNESCO is supporting the Wikimedia Indonesia Foundation in conducting training for 14 WMID administrators and the Wikimedia communities who are also indigenous languages (mother tongue speakers)-active contributors residing in 38 provinces in Indonesia to combat the mis/disinformation and the spread of hate speech, which are massive online, especially in the context of Simultaneous Election 2024 in Indonesia. The participants will be equipped and trained by UNESCO's experts and partners of Damai Coalition, to do pre-bunking/debunking, identifying hoaxes, and fact-checking. The project is under the Social Media 4 Peace Project UNESCO, funded by the European Union as well as part of UNESCO's Media and Information Literacy (MIL)
