Abstract/description

The ’Amis and Piyumayan tribes are an indigenous people in Taiwan, belonging to the Austronesian language group. They are mainly located in the eastern part of Taiwan, especially in areas near the Pacific coast. The population of ’Amis is approximately 560,000 people and The population of Piyumayan is approximately 15,000 people.

Since ancient times, the preservation and transmission of culture have likely been primarily conducted through oral traditions, songs, dances, as well as non-textual forms of art and expression such as painting and sculpture.

Facing certain challenges, such as the gradual loss or transformation of culture, due to the absence of a written form to ensure the long-term preservation and transmission of information.

Applying the Romanization system to establish a written and phonetic system. In 2019, the ’Amis language Wikipedia went online, and the use of Wikipedia accelerated the efficiency of documenting and textualizing the language.

Participating in international conferences allows for learning how other ethnic groups utilize various features of Wikipedia, contributing to the transformation of a language-rich but scriptless community into one with both language and script.To achieve the goal of "Cooperation Beyond the Horizon."
