Youngjin Ko, Project Manager at Wikimedia Korea particiated ESEAP conference 2024 representing Wikimedia Korea as project Manager, He also had a role of Core Team meaning, supporting various fields of needed during conference.

- ESEAP Conference 2024/Submissions/Awareness of copyright issue in South Korea
- Problems unique to Korea that I learned while participating in various wiki-related activities/outreaches. This includes lack of participation of youth age group due to learning needs, copyright issue, FOP, Lack of awareness of Wikimedia and the free knowledge movement, incorrect citation of sources, and obsession with non-profits.
- ESEAP Conference 2024/Submissions/ESEAP perspectives in Wikimedia global governance
- Introduced what I worked/performed as an member of the U4C Building committee, what was the skills that I achieved, described why our local people should join global committees as well as challenges made participating from ESEAP region.
Learnings
edit- Organizing the event - As COT member of this conference, I contributed various aspects during this conference, and got brief experiences of what to expect during conference. Hope this experiences can be used for future regional conferences and/or possible events hosted by us.
- Freedom of Panorama (FOP) - Each country has its own issues with panoramic freedom. There are many efforts in this region to get the rights related to it.
- Japanese community - Survey shows how contributors are being distributed, initiatives by 70 year old Liberian, how Eugene can archived the work in the his university.
- Mainland China - There are significant amount of contributors in that region - but HOW we reaching them as Hub or WMF?
Alongside three highlights, Youngjin was able to see unique examples of activity in different countries.

- Interacting with Foundation. - Expressing local concerns with IP Masking, reviewing some initiatives and grant process.
- As member of Organizing team, I assisted in various levels during conference. This includes: Becoming a host for major sessions (such as Hubs), provide logistics support
Plans after the conference

- Planning East Asia sub-regional collaboration with Wikimedia Taiwan and Japanese user group.
- Promoting regional-collaboration within my community.
- Try to look over the strategies related to concerns/suggestions raised for Korean community, implementing some useful initiatives from other countries.
- Due to program conflicts and duties had during conference, I couldn't join the all sessions that I interested during conference such as Asia month. Might want to review those presentations once they are uploaded.
