Wikisource and language preservation & revitalization in the ESEAP edit

Abstract/description edit

Wikisource is slowly picking pace and become more and more important in the ESEAP community. The newest Wikisource in the Wikimedia world are in the Balinese and Javanese languages. This session will introduce Wikisource for complete beginners and share success stories from different parts of the world. I will share some novel use cases of Wikisource, like transcribing audio-visuals, creating audiobooks, and manuscript transcription by the Balinese community. The session will demonstrate how Wikisource is playing a crucial role in not preserving languages but also revitalizing them.

Relationship to ESEAP or to the theme edit

While reconnecting with the ESEAP community, it's important to talk about what the Wikisource community in the ESEAP region has been able to achieve in the previous years and where it can go next!
