Noto Emoji Pie 1f4c4.svg This is an essay. It expresses the opinions and ideas of some Wikimedians but may not have wide support. This is not policy on Meta, but it may be a policy or guideline on other Wikimedia projects. Feel free to update this page as needed, or use the discussion page to propose major changes.

The Wikimedia Foundation should not (a) throw money at non-problems, (b) throw money at insoluble problems, or (c) throw money at unworkable imagined solutions to otherwise soluble problems.[1] Editors should consider this when endorsing proposals for grants.

NotesEdit

  1. The foundation should, in particular, refrain from throwing money at an insoluble problem merely to make it look like something is being done about that problem, in order to appease criticism from external media publications who don't realise, or who don't want to realise, that the problem is insoluble.
