Dagbani Wikimedians & Sister Communities TranslateWiki Project
Background
editAs part of our ongoing commitment to making Wikimedia projects accessible and user-friendly for a global audience and the indigenous languages for the Mabia languages, we are launching a comprehensive translation initiative using the TranslateWiki project. This initiative aims to translate all MediaWiki statements for every Wikimedia skin across various projects, ensuring that the user interface is available in multiple languages (Dagbani, Gurene, Moore, Dagaare and Kusaal). TranslateWiki, a leading platform for collaborative translation, provides a structured and efficient way to manage the translation process.
Participating Communities
editWhy Translation is Crucial
edit1. Global Accessibility: Wikimedia projects are utilized by a diverse and international user base. By translating MediaWiki statements, we aim to break down language barriers and provide a more inclusive experience for users from different linguistic backgrounds.
2. User Empowerment: Translating key interface elements empowers users to navigate and engage with Wikimedia projects more effectively. A user-friendly interface, available in multiple languages, enhances the overall user experience and encourages participation from a broader audience.
3. Community Collaboration: Wikimedia projects thrive on the collaboration of a global community. By facilitating translations, we hope to strengthen the bonds within the community and encourage individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds to contribute to the growth and development of Wikimedia projects.
Pages to Translate
editThis template adds a list of links to the important translatewiki projects that need to be translated in order to have an experience in the native language on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects that will cover the needs most readers and editors: core MediaWiki software, the multilingual main page portal (wikipedia.org), several important extensions, and the mobile apps. This especially takes into account the needs of wikis in new and developing languages.
This template can be used on user pages, and anywhere that you find comfortable.
There is one required parameter: language_code
. For example, if you are translating into Dagbani, use the template like this: {{User:Amire80/MW high prio links|language_code=dag}}.
