What is really done by the team of the Wikipedia Library with partner suggestions

  • Problem: Users can add and vote for new partners to be added in (the already quite great) Wikipedia Library. But then no info is given to the users about what the Wikipedia Library team is doing about the suggestions! Has the team emailed the suggested partner? Did they call someone at the partner office? Did they receive any answer? etc.
  • Proposed solution: Create a simple table (?) explaining what has been done (+ add dates) by the Wikipedia Library team in the suggest page.
  • Who would benefit: Every user who has taken the time to vote and/or to suggest a new partner for the Wikipedia Library.
  • More comments: note: I am not convinced that all the details of the negotiations need to be publicly known, but at least that something was done.
  • Phabricator tickets:

Jurbop: This team, Community Tech, at the most, can only improve the interface. They can not respond for another team, that is phab:T240166--Snævar (talk) 10:26, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thank you for your answer. Jurbop (talk) 07:01, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jurbop: Thanks for the suggestion! One approach we started taking for this, which wouldn't require us to make significant changes to the suggestion page, was to have a Phabricator board which tracks the progress and enables us to post updates. We could then (theoretically, we didn't do this yet) link those tickets to the suggestion page. You can see our trial of this at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/view/4808/. It's out of date and doesn't have every suggested resource, but if it was up to date and prominently linked from the library suggestion page, do you think this would help make things clearer? Hello @Samwalton9 (WMF), That would be great! Thank you very much Jurbop (talk) 09:40, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK great, I've filed T299883 to track the more specific solution. Samwalton9 (WMF) (talk) 09:57, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
