Allow creating bibliographic entries with the Citoid tool in VE
Problem: Only references can be created with Citoid in the Cite tool VE, not bibliographic entries (same as a reference, but without the ref-tags). Currently these entries have to be written either manually or by cheating the Cite tool to produce the entry and removing the ref tags manually. This is beyond what can reasonably be expected from new editors.
An example of a bibliographic entry can be seen for example in this German Wikipedia article under the section "Literatur" whereas the references are created inside the text and displayed in the "Einzelnachweise" (References) section.
The Literature section does not seem to be common in the English Wikipedia, but it is very common in many other language Wikipedias.
Who would benefit: All Wikipedia editors, especially editors using VE primarily.
Proposed solution: Allow an option in the Cite tool to omit referencing or place the option somewhere else in the editing interface where it makes most sense.

as a new (en/wiki) user familiar with the VE cite reference style but not sfn, I would welcome something to simplify editing pages previously set up in sfn e.g. adding a new citation to improve or update an article. Allow customizing of Citoid/RefToolbar output and this proposal sound like they may address the point as I cannot express technical terms. Very much in support of this. I train new editors and this would be the next logical step after the successful introduction of citoid in VE, which is available (as far as I know) only through the Cite button of the VE edit bar. One way to do it without much (re)writing of code I believe would be to simply add a new section at the top of the form used to fill the {{citation}}, {{cite book}}, {{cite journal}}, {{cite news}} and {{cite web}} templates. The new section would be presenting an option to try to automatically fill all the template fields by letting the user enter a URL, DOI, ISBN, PMID, PMCID or QID. The citoid code would be responsible for the "automatic fill" part, same as when using the Cite tool of VE. Users would be able to accept or edit the fields before inserting the templates (typically in a "Sources", "Bibliography" or "Further reading" section of an English-language article).
