Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Maps/View object location of all images with coordinates on a map

View object location of all images with coordinates on a map

  • Problem: There are being added coordinates of "camera location" to images with location template commons:Template:location. Position of all of those images are on the map.

The map is accesible via the "View this and other nearby images on: OpenStreetMap - Google Earth".

When a user will add coordinates of "object location" with the object location template commons:Template:object location, then the only one position from object location template (of the image where you just came from) is visible. But all other positions are from the camera location template.

There currently is no possibility to view more than one position of coordinates from object location on a map.

  • Who would benefit: Users who want to see all images from the certain area. Editors will see all images from the certain area for better categorization, they will also see areas, where are photos lacking from.
  • Proposed solution: It would be helpful to view all positions of camera location and all positions of object location on one map together. Ideally there would be helpful to have more possibilities. 1) view camera location only (this is what we have); 2) view both camera location and object location; 3) view object location only; 4) if there are both camera location and object location in one image, 4a) view both, 4b) view camera location only, 4c) view object location only.

I think this is a necessary requirement (Mostafameraji (talk) 14:00, 7 November 2018 (UTC))[reply]
