Create HotCat-like functionality for stub templates
Problem: Stub editing can be a very repetitive process
Who would benefit: Anyone who patrols and categorizes stubs
Proposed solution: Extend HotCat functionality to allow for adding stub templates or more specific stub templates
More comments: I've been using a nice script located here, but the tool is (understandably) not as slick as HotCat. It would be of great help if HotCat could be extended to easily add and remove stub templates. I already made a request for this on the HotCat talk page.
Furicorn Hi! I renamed this proposal to clarify the ask. We will not necessarily extend HotCat but we can make a similar (or better!) feature to do the same thing. I hope that's okay. Thank you. -- NKohli (WMF) (talk) 19:05, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Quiddity (WMF): Thanks for pointing me to that Userscript list page, lots of good stuff to review there! The usability for that particular script is unfortunately very low. One great thing is that it pops up at the top of the page. However, since it summons the entire stub list tree as you move deeper, it get very long and make it difficult to locate a stub. Contrast with HotCat functionality, which allows you to type in a category, and the search will dynamically drill down to a category. I currently use this one w:en:User:Danski454/stubsearch which has search and allows me to replace stubs using the tool, but I really want the HotCat functionality where you can click on a (+) or (-). I think I would want the tool to (1a) make stub templates appear at the top, (1b) with (+) or (-) and (2) have a search function similar to Danski454's script, but maybe with the popup menu UI style like HotCat's. I am a little loopy right now, so apologies if this is unclear. -Furicorn (talk) 05:34, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Stub templates should die, and articles given tracking categories according to number of codepoints in content text. — Jeblad08:18, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
