Santali is the Mother Tongue of about 7.6 Million People's in India, According to 2011 Indian Census Report. Santali Community mainly inhabits in Indian states like Jharkhand, Bihar,Odisha, West Bengal,Tripura,Mizoram and other parts of the Country. Santal people primarily uses Olchiki script for their literary writing and this Script was first time developed in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu. Santali People observing 2025 as the Year of "Centenary of Olchiki Script" or "Mission Olchiki 2025". As the Santali Community is observing it's historic Year, More Community Awareness about Content Digitization is felt by the Wikimedians of Santali Language User Group.Recruiting new Wikimedians, especially those from different institutions in rural areas will create a great impact. We will organize an edit-a-thon to fill the knowledge gap on Santali Wikipedia and Information that we are lacking on Santali Wikipedia as well as on english/hindi wikipedia. This will enrich the encyclopedia, which will lead to unleashing the potential of everyone to access neutral information and the implementation framework of this initiative.I/We planed to organize targeted workshops and training sessions aimed at building the capacity of experienced editors, helping them better understand and apply Wikipedia’s core policies to improve the quality of their contributions. leveraging the community's collective efforts to improve content on Santali Wikipedia.

This project will spread awareness about Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons among the Santali rural peoples in the areas. We look forward to partnering with various NGOs, schools, and private institutions where we will work with their volunteers who are willing to learn about Wikimedia and how to contribute to Wikimedia's various projects, especially Wikipedia and Wiki Commons and Wikitionary. We will attract new users to Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and its sister projects. We are planning a 3-day training where we will teach participants about Wikimedia and the different ways they can contribute to Wikimedia's projects and contribute to the Movement Strategy recommendations: Invest in skills and leadership development. Equipping our participants with various ways to contribute to Wikimedia projects, we will launch a 2 Months long Wiki Loves Folklore Edit-a-thon competition. Focusing on addressing the challenges faced by New Users or Existed editors and Creating/Improving the quality of articles related to Folklore of Asia regions and specially ADIBASI or Santali Community's Folklore/Folk culture on Santali Wikipedia along with uploading images to Wiki commons and contributing to Santali Wiktionary, Which is now in Incubator/Project level going on. Contributions are welcomed which will focus on increasing the visibility of open-access Information.

R Ashwani Banjan Murmu : He will be the project coordinator and will lead on promoting the project related activities . Durga Soren: He is a Santali Wikipedia experienced editor and event organizer. He will lead Support and documentation of this project.Karyalal Baskey : He will support and assist with co-facilitating training and communication.Ramit Tudu : He is an event organizer and contributor with a background in Interface Admin . He will provide general support to task leads, handle communication, and contribute to other aspects of the project.Shakuntala Marndi : She will take a lead on promoting the project, engage the community members in content creation and encourage them to participate proactively in the strategic discussion.

The target Community for this Project is ADIBASI Santali Community. The participants include both active editors who need further training on Wikipedia's core policies and less-engaged editors who can be encouraged to contribute more frequently. We will also welcome new editors.We also planed to identify the most active, knowledgeable, and motivated contributors and invite them to future events, providing them with opportunities to take on leadership roles within the community. Finally, we will add new participants to the existing WhatsApp/Telegram group to encourage continued discussions and collaborations.

Myself as the organizing Team Leader, I/We shared our idea with the other Santali Wiki User Member's WhatsApp Group Chat. I/We expect that this project will increase the number of active contributors to Wikimedia projects through the Awareness/training approach that we will use to train them and the intention to follow up, this project will also be a great opportunity to expand the network which will also help the participants to contribute with confidence as they will have someone to ask whenever they face problems while contributing as they will be paired with the experienced editors who will also guide them. Participants, especially newcomers, will receive ongoing mentorship and support to ensure that they can successfully create and improve articles on Wikipedia. I/We expect this project to generate a lot of contributions to Wiki Commons, Wikipedia, and other Wikimedia projects (Wikidata, Wiki Sources, etc).
