Tips edit

  • There is a fundamental difference between messages and information. Messages are not what you say or write. Messages are what you want to convey with the information you give, what you want people to remember or think about. Imagine you want somebody to understand that you are great at telling jokes. You could just tell them "Hey, I am great at telling jokes." That might work but, obviously, there are many different ways to convey your message. You could actually tell a joke. You could write an analysis of your joke-telling skills. You could show them a video of you entertaining a birthday party with your jokes. In short: The message determines the communication tools, never the other way around. Clear message, first.
