CommonsLab app

CommonsLab is an open source licensed, non for profit mobile app used to upload multimedia files published in public domain or a Creative Commons license to commons.wikimedia.org. The app was initiated from mobile app developers in Tirana in collaboration with Open Labs hackerspace members and local Wikimedians. This page is created to document the features of the app, issues with the Wikimedia api that the developers are facing, and to generate a debate in the discussin page about the ways the Wikimedia api can be improved.

Why another Wikimedia App?

More details will be published in the next days about the importance of having a better mobile app to upload to Wikimedia Commons.

Known issues

• Video recording without audio;
• Sometimes the framerates of the video is low. We haven't identified the reason about this yet, but any help from the community is highly appreciated.

How can you help

Here are some things you can do to get involved and improve the app:

• Translation on your language (detailed instructions will be published soon);
• If you find a bug, create an issue on the dedicated Github repository of the application;
• Pull requests on coding are always welcomed
• Feedback on the project
