Welcome to the Chattogram WikiCommunity (Bengali: চট্টগ্রাম উইকিসম্প্রদায়) or WikipediaCtg, – a vibrant hub of knowledge enthusiasts dedicated to illuminating the world with the essence of Chattogram's rich cultural heritage, history, and contemporary significance. It is the first of the seven regional communities of Wikimedia Bangladesh, working to provide volunteer support for the potential and expansion of Wikimedia projects in the Chattogram division of Bangladesh. The community was formed on 14 July 2014 and approved by the Wikimedia Bangladesh board on 6 February 2016.

At the heart of the Chattogram WikiCommunity's vision lies the aspiration to create a comprehensive online repository that reflects the diverse tapestry of Chattogram. We envision a platform where information about Chattogram's landmarks, people, traditions, and milestones thrives in a collaborative and accessible manner. The primary goal of this community is to enrich Chittagong-related information on Wikimedia projects and take various steps to increase volunteerism in the Chittagong region and coordinate among them. So far, a significant number of volunteers, both active and inactive, have contributed to this community. Among them are university-college students and professionals.

Our mission is twofold: to foster a dynamic community of contributors passionate about sharing accurate and engaging information about Chattogram and to empower individuals around the globe with authentic insights into the city's multifaceted identity.

What We Do

Content Creation: Our community of dedicated volunteers works tirelessly to curate and create high-quality Wikipedia articles that encapsulate the essence of Chattogram. We cover various topics, from historical accounts to modern developments.

Cultural Preservation: We believe in preserving Chattogram's cultural heritage by documenting its festivals, traditions, art, and language, ensuring they are not lost to the sands of time.

Collaboration and Outreach: We actively collaborate with local institutions, universities, and experts to enhance the accuracy and depth of our articles. We also organize events, workshops, and edit-a-thons to encourage more knowledge-sharing involvement.

Education and Empowerment: By contributing to Chattogram-related articles, our volunteers gain valuable skills in research, writing, and critical thinking. We also strive to make Chattogram's knowledge accessible to those seeking to learn about the city.
