Central Asian WikiCon 2025/Submissions
This page provides general information and guidelines on submitting session proposals for the Central Asian WikiCon 2025.
Important dates

Submission types
editThe sessions at the conference will be organised in several formats, and you will have the choice between the following submission types:
- Lecture: One or two presenters offer(s) a presentation followed by questions and comments from the audience. The total time for a lecture (including questions and comments) will be up to 30 minutes.
- Demonstration: One presenter introduces the methods of working with a tool, a workflow or a program. The total time for a demonstration (including questions and comments) will be up to 60 minutes.
- Panel: A small group of people presents or discusses a particular topic and responds to questions and comments from the audience. The total time for a panel will be up to 60 minutes.
- Workshop: One or two moderators present(s) a topic by actively interacting with the audience. The total time for a workshop will be up to 90 minutes.
- Lightning talk: One presenter gives a talk without follow-up by the audience. The total time for a lightning talk will be 5 minutes.
- Roundtable: A group of 10—15 people discusses a particular topic. The total time for a roundtable discussion will be up to 45 minutes.
- Poster: A topic is presented on a poster displayed in a visible place in the venue.
Notes:
- All session types will be included in the main conference programme.
- Standardised durations do not include the time needed to change halls.
Application form
editYou will be asked to provide the following information in the application form:
- the title of the submitted proposal;
- the general topics covered with the proposal;
- the level of advancement of the proposed topic;
- the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s);
- an abstract describing the topic of the proposal;
- a brief statement on how the proposal is beneficial.
You will not be asked about the time needed to present your proposed session because each submission type will have a standardised duration to which you will have to abide (see Submission types). So please ensure you have properly adjusted your proposal to fit within the standardised duration for the specific submission type.
If your proposed sessions requires some additional tools, resources or materials, or you have some special requests (e.g. no filming and/or broadcasting, need for translator etc.), you can add them into the "Special requirements" section.
How to submit a session proposal?
editYou can submit your session proposal by following these steps:
- Step 0: Please make sure that you have logged into your Meta-wiki user account (directly or via Global Wikimedia account) before submitting your proposal.
- Step 1: Insert the title of your proposed session in the one of the text entry boxes below. Our submission forms are prepared in Russian and English while these are preferred languages for sessions, but you also can submit your session in Karakalpak, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Persian, Tajik or Uzbek using the Russian or English submission form and filling all the fields in language of your choice.
- Step 2: Click the "Add new proposal" button under the filled text entry box (will turn blue) to create a new application form page.
- Step 3: Fill in the application form with all the data you have on your proposal and save the page to submit your proposal.

Note: By submitting a proposal, you must agree that:
- your proposal's abstract and any slides associated with it will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike Licence 3.0;
- The program committee will discuss every session in details with its authors or organizers after approval;
- Sessions can be broadcasted and/or recorded during the conference. If you prefer not to be filmed during your session, please indicate it as a special requirement while submitting your proposal. We will not record and broadcast the session if it's harmful to its participants in any way.
