The aim of this yearly campaign is to encourage wikimedians to write more about Africa to work towards bridging the content gap. The success of the campaign will be measured through a participation tool.

Discussion

This contest was first was created in 2019 by a few wikimedians, and I am acting as their support from now on. It actually started running as early as the 1st of May, but the banner request was posted on the wrong page. The main person I am in contact with is AirSThib who co-founded the contest. --Adelaide Calais WMFr (talk) 10:56, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

@AirSThib: & @Adélaïde Calais WMFr: Looks perfect, though also here the image proposed for the banner is less then suboptimal. I hope that Rodelar has the time today to crop the image without the text, then I will create your banner. In the meantime, please also add your event to the calendar and look for possible conflicting banners (targetting same country/language in the same time). Ciell (talk) 15:06, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

• Hi Ciell, thank you very much ǃ I added the event to the calendar and checked ː there don't seem to be any other banners set up on french speaking wikipedia for that period. The one before stops on the 18th. I would say go ahead and use the second file but I'd rather wait for AirSThib's green light. Adelaide Calais WMFr (talk) 16:23, 14 May 2020 (UTC)

NB: this actually is a perfect example the kind of banner where the Site Notice (on the French Wikipedia) would have been a perfect fit, but I understand from your posting here, that nobody responded to the request made? • Hi Ciell, I think the community is okay with it ː a banner was shown last year for a month on account of this event and nobody complained. But if you like I can ask on the village pump today. It is correct that nobody responded to AirSThib's request. Another contributor indicated later on that page that even though it would be the place to request sitenotices, it seemed that few people actually used it for this purpose. Thank you for sending a preview but I could not find the banner on the page you linked to. Although I admit I am glad to have learnt about wikianarchism ǃ Adelaide Calais WMFr (talk) 07:13, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
