The Christ University, Bangalore is a deemed University under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, and was established as Christ College in July 1969. Being one of the oldest educational institutions of Bangalore, Christ University has excelled in imparting knowledge across various disciplines like Law, Business Administration, Commerce, Management, Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences. With the innovative approach in looking into modernizing the curricula, insistence on academic discipline, imparting Holistic Education with a team of creative and dedicated staff, the institution has been continually rated amongst the top 10 educational institutions of the country. It has the rare distinction of being the first institution in Karnataka to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) UGC for quality education. In 2004, UGC conferred Autonomy on the institution. In 2005, it was first college in South India to be re-accredited with A+ by NAAC. UGC identified it as an Institution with Potential for Excellence in 2006. Ministry of HRD, Govt of India declared it a deemed to be university u/s 3 of UGC Act 1956 in July 2008.
