Department of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) is the academic wing of the Department of Public Instruction of the Government of Karnataka. DSERT was formed as a small unit in 1964 in Dharawada, and at the time it was as the State Institute of Education (SIE). The aims are this department are—

  1. academic leadership in school education; and
  2. improving the quality of education provided in schools through different programs;
