CIS-A2K has built partnership with Research Institute of World's Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) is a non-profit community based organisation and cultural research institute of North East India, located in the village of Khinjili near the town of Roing at Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It has a ethnographic museum focusing on the culture and tradition of Arunachal Pradesh and North East India at large. It also has a collection of images, audio and video files depicting the rich cultural tradition of different tribes and indigenous people of the region.
Under the GLAM project, the listing of all artifacts in the museum was listed and photo documented with proper descriptions on Wikimedia Commons. The RIWATCH organisation is aiming to connect all this repository with other ancient traditions across the world. They are also building another global repository of artifacts from different communities in various countries. As all these efforts lead to structured database and requires more networking among similar datasets on internet, the collaboration with Wikimedia Deutshland to develop Wikibase was facilitated by A2K. A2K is supporting the process of documentation, communications with RIWATCH & WMDE and designing of the front end.
The meeting to discuss the Wikibase process details and technical aspects for launching the same on Wikibase Cloud was organised on 14 July between WMDE partner managers, Christos & Bodhisattwa, Director, RIWATCH and A2K representative. After completing the process, the installation of Wikibase Cloud for RIWATCH was done. It is the first Wikibase project in India.
