CIS-A2K is conducting Telugu Wikipedia Online sessions for existing Wikipedians who wanted to learn and contribute to Quality improvement and creation of quality content.

  • Session happened over Google hangout.
  • Trainer presented about Mission of Wikipedia, How it reflects in 5 Pillers of Wikipedia, how 5 pillers reflects in all other policies, Core content policies. Examples of Core content policies' (3CCP) violations in Telugu Wikipedia and How to fix them.
  • Trainer showed articles which has multiple issues (of 3CCP) and participants identified from their understanding.
  • One of the participants comments were disruptive to the class. Especially those comments were directed towards an editor who was not present at that meeting. Participant was also de-sysoped in Telugu Wikipedia during 2016 for his behaviour and decisions. Trainer decided not to welcome the participant for remaining online classes but to continue training by giving tasks and links to read if he is okay with it.

Follow-up

  • Participants will work on one article each and fix NPOV and Original research issues.
  • Session 2 will happen on 24 February 2019.
  • 3 participants of the class and 2 others who couldn't attend the class worked on the tasks and finished.

  • Session happened over Google hangout. Session happened smoothly with focus on the topics.
  • Participatns presented their follow-up work for last class and explained why they made perticular edits in the light of NPOV and No Original Research.
  • Trainer explained about Style guideline of Telugu Wikipedia. Discussion happened over several aspects of style. Stress on article introduction was given.
  • Trainer presented about Copyrights and Licenses of Wikipedia. Participants perticularly got interested to know that films, photos and sound recordings happened before 60 years and are first published in India, becomes Public domain in India. Trainer showed Videos2Commons tool and explained what are the Youtube videos that can be uploaded using the tool.
  • One of the participant User:IM3847 interested in uploading Screenshots, videos and audio files of Telugu Films which are under public domain.
