• Taking Wiki Club Jamia Ahead: Helping participation from female students grow.

Type of Event/Activity

• Training workshop which would involve awareness/introduction to Wikipedia and other open knowledge initiatives, basic editing, capture images in and around the university campus which would subsequently be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons under a free license.

Purpose of the Event/Activity

• Sustainability and growth of Wiki Club Jamia.
• More awareness about open knowledge platforms.
• Expansion of the Wikimedia community - Bringing new participants to the Wiki Club Jamia.
• Encouraging structured female participation and leadership at Wiki Club Jamia
• Documenting photographic knowledge related to Jamia Millia Islamia
• Improvement of existing content on Wikipedia projects, particularly content related to the university.

• CIS- A2K (main sponsor of the event), Eng Res Co and DCW - Eng Res Co will help in having the event held at Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia, and DCW will provide support with structuring the event.

Program and Metrics

Agenda/Program of the Event/Activity

• 1) Introduction to Wikipedia and other sister projects like → Wikimedia Commons, Wikibooks, Wikiquote etc.
• 2) Basics to editing- live session of atleast one edit per person.
• 3) Uploading photographs to Wikimedia Commons. Helping navigate basic to semi-advanced- nuances of copyright and licensing.
• 4) Adding tags/ labels to photographs and pages. (Structured data and categories)
• 5) Wikidata labels.
• 6) Sustaining of Wiki Club Jamia and having equitable female leadership and participation is also an agenda.

Expected Matrix or Outcomes from the Event/Activity planned

• Increased awareness about the open knowledge movement of Wikimedia and its projects.
• At least 7-8 new contributors/accounts, particularly female students.

Expected number of attendees

• 20- 30 students.

Post Event/Activity Engagement

Follow-up engagement plan post the event/activity

• Add new contributors to WhatsApp group of the club where they would be assisted and addressed in a timely manner.
• Encourage participants to participate in conversations, contests and other Wiki challenges.
