CIS-A2K/Events/Re-licensing of water & river related content by Tarun Bharat Sangh under Project Jalbodh

Context edit

CIS-A2K is collaborating with different organisations working on water & river issues to build free content in Wikimedia Projects under 'Project Jalbodh'. The content generation process got the impetus after the River dialogue organised by SANDARP & INTACH in Pune. The initiative to document river issues on Wiki was taken up by organisation Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS). TBS is running movements called Jal Jan Jodo and Jal Biradari across India to connect people with the rivers to rejuvenate them. CIS-A2K and TBS have been implementing the capacity building programs to train activists in content creation. The first National Workshop in this series was organised in December 2018 at Bhikampura in Rajasthan. To create awareness and knowledge among citizens, CIS-A2K collaborated with this initiative to facilitate resource building in Wikimedia Projects.

Re-licensing of books on water and rivers edit

Apart from content generation, TBS has generously re-licensed reference books on water and river related issues. In November, OTRS process was completed for 50 books. Total 39 books in Hindi language and 11 books in English language were re-licensed and uploaded in Wikimedia Commons under CC-BY-SA 4.0. Due to this, reliable source material on status of Indian rivers is made available in English as well as local languages. In December, second batch of re-licensing was completed. Total 24 books in Hindi and one English book was uploaded.
