Types of events

Urban photo scavenger hunt, usually taking place over one day.

• Wikipedia Loves Art & Culture

Photo scavenger hunt in cooperation with a museum, usually taking place over an extended period, such as one month.

• Commons:Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments, an outside photo contest with a clear scope and many objects

• Expeditions

A photography event which is not structured as a contest.

• More informal events

In practice, a number of photography events have been more informal than the above models would suggest, and there are many variations that can be chosen to best suite local circumstances.
