Up to November 2015, more than 5500 archive materials have been digitized and uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.

This "Archives Challenge" is a cross-border GLAM-cooperation, which aims at:

  • improvement in the file descriptions in different languages, because that would make the documents accessible to people around the globe,
  • addition of more categories, because that would make the documents easier to find,
  • addition of the images to articles, and creation of articles, based on the images.

Here are the starting points for people, accepting the challenge:

Quantitative aims are hard to be defined beforehand, since this is the first challenge of this kind, to the best knowledge of the organisers.
