III Nit de la Llengua Digital

Nit de la Llengua Digital in Tarragona

For the third year we have celebrated the "Nit de la Llengua Digital" (Night of the Digital Language) in collaboration with "Direcció General de Política Lingüística" (General Council of Language Policy). This year we did 2 simultaneous edithatons (Tarragona and Barcelona), both from 18h to 23h.

Tarragona's edithaton was a total success with 50 attendees. We had the support of the Port of Tarragona, several departaments of Rovira i Virgili University (URV), Official Language School (EOI), the school of adults Josepa Massanés and the Public Library of Tarragona (already working together in our libraries wikiproject). In this editathon we aimed for the improvement of the local characteristics of the Catalan language in Tarragona's region and we also translated several articles related to Catalan to other languages. The translations were made throught the Content Translation, which in spite of several already known problems of the beta test, was considered very useful by participants. Several articles were translated from Catalan to Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Romanian, Rusian and Arabic. Photos of the event can be found here.

Barcelona's edition was devoted to improve content related to Occità, both in ca: and oc: Wikipedias. University professors, linguists and students worked together during the evening to add quality content to different entries. Some participants from previous editions came to help in the workshop. We were glad to meet some oc:wiki users who came to Barcelona specially for the Nit Digital. More information at w:ca:Viquipèdia:Viquimarató nit digital/2015
