Amazon
Relationship between Wikimedia and Amazon.
Donations edit
Amazon donated $1 million to the Wikimedia Endowment in September 2018,[1] and again in October 2019[2] and September 2020[3]. The Wikimedia Foundation also accepts donations via Amazon Pay.[4]
Alexa edit
Amazon's Alexa makes use of Wikipedia articles.
In July 2017, Amazon's compliance with Wikipedia's Creative Commons licensing attribution requirement was discussed on the Wikimedia-l mailing list.[5] The WMF's Director of Strategic Partnerships, Adele Vrana, contacted Amazon regarding this.[6]
Alexa Donations supports the WMF, allowing users to say "Alexa, donate to Wikipedia" to donate.
Mechanical Turk edit
Amazon's Mechanical Turk is frequently used in Wikimedia Research efforts.
Amazon Web Services edit
OKAPI, currently under development, is being prototyped using Amazon Web Services.
