Federal University of Kashere Wiki Club is part of the Nigerian Universities Wikimedia User Group. It is an intellectual community that comprises of academicians and students who can help to increase awareness about Climatic and Environmental changes on Wikipedia, Wikidata and other Wikimedia Foundation sister projects.  The goal of this project is to train them on how to improve articles and contents related to Climate and Environments, edit biographies of people who are the forefront of contributing to climate and environment with priorities to women personalities.

Ibjaja055: (The project lead) Ibjaja055 is an experienced Wikimedia projects editor. He is the project lead of the Wikimedia Promotions in Federal University of Kashere and also double as the leader of the fan club . He has participated in different Wikimedia projects. He is the 4th highest contributor during the third edition of the African Librarians Week held from 22-29 May 2022. He is currently a facilitator at the Wikimedia Awareness in Akko, a one month project that will end in January 2023.

Usmanagm: (Facilitator) Usmanagm is the project lead of Wikipedia Awareness in Akko and a member of the Federal University of Kashere Wiki Club. He is an experienced Wikimedia projects editor and a trainer

Ojewuyib: (Communication expert) A member of Federal University of Kashere Wiki Club and an experienced Wikimedia editor.

And two other climatic experts from Federal University of Kashere

The focus of this is to train  editors on how to contribute to contents related to Environmental and Climate by creating and editing articles on climatic groups, climatic changes implications, biographies of African climate experts and partnering with universities climatic department to insert the data of Nigerian climate experts on wikidata.

Also, We will organize a 2-day online training and one day physical training that will recruit new editors and enhance the skills of the existing editors on how to generate contents about climate change and environment topics on English Wikipedia and Wikidata.

Lastly, there will be a two weeks Edit-a-thon where the participants will have the chance to improve contents on Wikipedia and wikidata.

Fallout edit

  • Expanding Nigeria climate and environmental articles on Wikipedia and Wikidata in order to increase readership and visibility.
  • Partner with the University climate department and  experts on how to generate  high quality articles or expand and improve already existing one through the addition of reliable sources, fixing typos etc.
  • Bridging the gender gaps by prioritising women articles climatic experts biographies

The target of the project is to;

  • Engage five facilitators (both climate experts and active Wikipedians)
  • Recruit 35 participants divided in 25 existing editors (including climate experts and Academicians )  and 10 new editors
  • Create or improve 200+ articles across Wikipedia and Wikidata.
