Africa Day 2023: Preserving African heritage/Outcome

The Africa Day celebration within the Igbo community was a vibrant and engaging event, characterized by enthusiastic participation and valuable learning experiences. Participants eagerly contributed to the scope of the 2023 campaign, which took the form of an edit-a-thon and contest.
During the contest, the participants focused on enhancing Wikidata items, primarily by incorporating translations of descriptions, labels, and aliases. The contest spanned three days and was on Wikipedia. The participants also dedicated their efforts to translating Africa-related content on the Igbo Wikipedia and using this list as guide on what to work on
As of 19th June 2023, the contributions made by the participants have been impressive, with 946 articles created, 2.45K articles edited, and a total of 4.2K edits. Note that these figures are subject to change, as participants are still actively engaged in translation and editing endeavors. The Africa Day celebration within the Igbo community has thus far been a resounding success, with substantial contributions made towards the promotion and preservation of African knowledge and heritage.
Contest result edit
There was a three-day contest held to create and translate articles on Igbo Wikipedia. During the contest, the Xtool was utilized to check the editors' work. The results of the contest are provided below on the score sheet
