Affiliations Committee/Resolutions/Renewal Wikimedia Community Ireland

Whereas:
  1. Recognizing Wikimedia User Groups is the responsibility of the Affiliations Committee;
  2. On 8 December 2014, Wikimedia Community Ireland was recognized as Wikimedia User Group by the Affiliations Committee for a term of 1 year that finished on 8 December 2015;
  3. The affiliation requirements for Wikimedia User Groups include annual renewal based on the annual activities report submitted by the group.
In 2015 the group organized Wiki Loves Monuments Ireland as well as hosted several edit-a-thon events with a variety of topical interest groups including:
  • Women in STEM Editathon Hosted by Engineers Ireland (February),
  • World War I Editathon Hosted by National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks (February), and two
  • NUIG Women in History Edit-a-thons (March and April).
They also gave presentations on Wikipedia in education at two regional conferences:
  • (CESI (Computers in Education Society of Ireland) annual conference: Beyond the Horizon – Technology in Education (February), and
  • ILTA (Irish Learning Technology Association) EdTech annual conference: Beyond the Horizon: Policy, Practice and Possibilities (May)), and held a small
  • Irish Design Hackathon in October.
In addition to these reported community activities the group had representation at Wikimania and Wikimedia Conference including participation in Learning Days.
  1. The current status and work performed by Wikimedia Community Ireland have been reviewed by the Affiliations Committee;
  2. They have fulfilled the minimum requirements to retain their status as a Wikimedia User Group;
The Affiliations Committee has determined that the Wikimedia User Group satisfies the requirements for renewal of its status as an affiliate.
Therefore be it resolved that the Wikimedia User Group status of Wikimedia Community Ireland is hereby renewed through 8 December 2016.
