1Lib1Ref LASU Epe- Ojo , 2023 Report .
Goals
editDid you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
Yes. I met my set out goals and, and I am happy with the outcome of the project. This is the first time of my appearance as a wikimedia project lead to LASU students. The major goal of this project was to have a merged wiki program between the Main campus and the sub campus, this worked well as the members of both campuses were able to get familiar with each other. The participants edited articles, and added references and citations to wiki pages.
Outcome
editPlease report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.
Target outcome | Achieved outcome | Explanation |
25 participants | 36 | I reached my goal of organizing a physical Training and the number of participants was encouraging. |
100 references and citations added | 130 references and citations added | I reached my target of adding references and citations . |
To add references and citations to wiki | References and citations added | I focused solemnly on their acquisition of adding references and citations knowledge, and it was achieved it because they were able to answer questions been asked them correctly. |
I expected to have (5) new participants | (36) participants joined us. | I had (17) new Participants joined the training session. |
other fan club activities during the month:
- The Fan club executives paid a courtesy visit to available staff advisers and introduced ourselves as the new executives for the session
- Registration renewal of the fan club was carried out but was not completed due the the unavailability of some of the staff advisers and the congested work schedule for the semester
Learning
editProjects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The use of a Wikipedia trainer strategy worked very well. Also the use of souvenirs to encourage active participants was helpful. Question and answer series worked very well.
- What did not work so well?
The number of participants that was expected was underestimated, fan club members from the sub campus to the main campus did not arrive in time due to heavy traffic conditions.
- What would you do differently next time?
Although majority of the conditions were beyond our control, I would ensure that proper survey and chance for elasticity is given in the budget, also that the timing will be properly considered.
