The campaign started on the 22nd June 2022. The general aim of the program was to recruit new, active members and also to teach these volunteers how to add references to Wikipedia articles needing them. It is focused on the addition of verifiable sources to Wikipedia articles that lack any. The contest will commence fully on June 20th, 2022 and will end July 23rd 2022.

Purpose

There is a significant amount of Wikipedia articles lacking verifiable sources, the purpose of the campaign is to contribute references to Wikipedia articles lacking them. Few other experienced Wikimedians and Obasa Warith (the Team lead at Wikiclub LASU) will use the program to introduce English Wikipedia to participants; both new and existing using the knowledge acquired in the past few years.

For the project: 1Lib1Ref LASU? the edit-a-thon that is aimed at covering the lack of references gap on Wikipedia, we aim to:

  • Add and improve articles on Wikipedia.
  • Recruit new Wikipedia editors
  • Engage and Increase skills for existing editors: by the addition of verifiable sources to Wikipedia articles that lack any.

Project or Events

The event (physical event) will take place on June 20, 2022. In accordance with the Covid-19 Guidelines in Nigeria. Thereafter, we will have four weeks of online edit-a-thon. Outreach Dashboards will also be created to track the contributions of participants.
