Statement by Wikimedia UG Georgia on the Development and Adoption of the Universal Code of Conduct by the Wikimedia Foundation

Tbilisi, Georgia
2020

Statement

Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia welcomes the development of the Universal Code of Conduct by the Wikimedia Foundation and its subsequent adoption.

A Universal Code of Conduct that applies to all Wikimedia projects and will be mandatory for everyone, including users, stewards, and Wikimedia Foundation staff, we believe is needed as we hope it will help create a friendlier, more secure, and more secure environment for Wikipedia projects.

We also realize that the development and adoption of a universal code of conduct is related to a number of problematic issues, there are groups of people who have different opinions and have thorough questions and remarks about the process. We hope that the facilitators of the process will take into account all the remarks, take them into account and answer all the questions.

We hope that the Universal Code of Conduct will be the minimum of norms of conduct that will be observed by all and that will be the starting point for all. For its part, the Wikimedia Georgia User Group expresses its full readiness to cooperate with everyone in this regard.

Sincerely,
Chairman of the Wikimedia Georgia User Group
Mehman Ibragimov
