Working groups' actions

Education

The group is currently working on organizing the Meetings that will take place in Paris on December 14 and 15. The aim is to bring together education actors from primary school to higher education. The program includes: introduction to Wikimedia projects, reflection about related educational issues (from use to production of contents), related themes (free educational resources, collaborative working, uses, etc) and application (stories from teachers, designing of educational projects).

On July 9 and 10 in Geneva (Switzerland), Carol Ann ran a presentation and workshop at the Global Meetings of Free Software (Rencontres mondiales du logiciel libre,RMLL) about education with Wikipedia.

See the dedicated page (in French) on RMLL website.

On July 11 and 12, a member took part in two round-tables at the Forum des usages coopératifs in Brest on building and innovating by linking networks around education. .

Microfunding

The microfunding committee decided to purchase a encyclopedic dictionnary including 2,000 articles about personalities buried at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris (Deux siècles d'histoire au Père Lachaise by Paul Bauer published by « Mémoire & Documents »).

Research&University

The working group met on July 24 to assess the trainings of the academic year 2011-2012 and consider their development.

In late June, Carol Ann attended the "Wikipedia Academy" organized by Wikimedia Deutschland in Berlin. The purpose was to enhance the research papers realized on Wikipedia.

Training "Put your knowledge to good use with Wikipedia" in partnership with the university of Nanterre (Paris X) ended in early July. Next training is scheduled for next November.
