Editing weekends and days

On 7-8th 14/15th of December we have held two editing weekends, or a total of 21 during this year.Тhe topic was related to Astronomy, Medieval Women, Ski Jumping and Alcoholic drinks. On this editing weekends 6 users took participation creating 30 new articles. Also on 7th, 10th and 24 December we conducted three editing day on topic Human rights, Macedonian actors and UTC time offsets, whereas 7 users participated and created 36 new articles. It was editing days number 8, 9 and 10 during this year.

Educational program: Editing class in Goce Delčev Primary School in Negotino

On 04th of December, we have started with the lessons and editing activities for the second consecutive school year in Goce Delčev primary school in the town of Negotino, situated in south-central region of Macedonia. After the initial first school year of successful implementation of activities with pupils from 8th and 9th grade this year the program activities envisaged for implementation in the elementary school "Goce Delčev" during the school year 2019/2020 are supported as an official part of the Program for financing the program activities of the associations and foundations for the year 2019 by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for which funds have been approved for the project "Education through Wikipedia" by the Government Decision, Priority 5: Education Reforms and Investment in Innovation and Information Technology of 08.10.2019, (Project: Education through Wikipedia, 29-28 / 1). This first class is going to be followed by monthly activities including visiting of museum and field trip which will be used for taking photographs that will be used by the students in their further work on Wikipedia within the classes of the subject "Study of the homeland". The class was opened by the teacher and long time active Wikipedia contributor Elizabeta Trpkovska and after the short introduction the students from different classes including 6th, 8th and 9th grade have begun to create and edit articles about archaeological sites in the vicinity of the villages in Negotion and Kavadarci region. In a period of hour actually slightly more than 60 minutes 12 students have created 18 new articles and got comprehensively introduced to the basics of the editing on Wikipedia. Regarding that the number of interested students who attended the class is higher but due to some technical limitations on Wikipedia such as restrict for registration on the same IP address etc they haven't been able to contribute on this class, they will be introduced with a lesson and editing practices on the next class and will equally participate in the following monthly activities further in the school year.

WikiCity Club in Kumanovo

On 05th of December the fourth and the last event within the project WikiCity Club had been organized in the city library of "Tane Georgievski" in the city of Kumanovo. WikiCity Club is a new second consecutive joint project with Goethe-Institut this year which is aiming at creating and increasing content and articles for German culture into Macedonian through Wikipedia by translating content from Wikipedia into German, that goal is to bring closer the German culture and German-related topics to Macedonian readers. Entire event lasted for nearly 3 hours beginning slightly before 1 o'clock PM and ending around 4 o'clock PM consisting of simultaneous workshop for instruction about editing on Wikipedia both through the translation tool and source coded editor which was followed by edit-a-thon on which the participants were creating articles by choosing topics from lists about German literature, German music, German film and Cultural heritage of Germany. The event was attended by 5 people who have created 15 new articles on German related topics, which is the highest number of created articles on this kind of events so far. All of the articles have been created by translating from German Wikipedia as well as creating some of them through coded editing. With this final event from the WikiCity Club (WikiStadtKlub) the total number of created articles within the project is 77 newly created articles on German related-topics by 23 participants. The overall result from the events of the project cooperation between Goethe Institut and Macedonian Wikipedia during the entire year is 357 newly created articles on German-related topics on Macedonian Wikipedia.

Editing class in Krume Kepeski Primary School

On 17 December, we continued our educational program at Krume Kapevski Elementary School.The class was opened by the teacher and Wikipedia contributor Slobodan Trajkovski and after the short introduction the students have begun to create and edit articles about archaeological sites in the vicinity of the villages in Skopje region. In a period of 60 minutes, 5 students were involved in the training, where they created 5 articles.

Visiting the City Museum- Negotino

According to a project program supported by the Macedonian government, "Education through Wikipedia" on 26 December, students from Goce Delchev Primary School in Negotino visited the City Museum in Negotino led by French professor Elizabeta Trpkovska.The purpose of the visit was to collect data from the city museum, as well as to create photographs for sharing on Wikimedia Commons and on Wikipedia articles.

Astrophoto 2019 photographic contest

This November we have organized the photographic Astrophoto competition. This year we had planned 3 awards for the top three placed in the competition . The photographic competition which lasted from 1st until 30th of November has ended up with 108 images, uploaded by 11 participants.

Editing competition

This December we have organized a editing competition related in handball. The reason of the chosen topic was because the handball articles were relatively poor or not up to date in the Macedonian Wikipedia. This edition we had planned three awards for the top three placed in the competition plus two bonus awards. The editing competition which lasted from 1st until 31th of December has ended up with 283 covered articles, of which 215 new articles and 65 improved articles, and 2 created templates and 1 improved template, edited by 6 participants.
